Update an Existing Switch or Default Control

The Switch or Default control allows a user to turn or off specific features within a call flow and it will reset on a daily basis. It is commonly used for the following types of scenarios:

  • Turn on/off messages provided to a caller during certain situations, such as inclement weather or emergency situations
  • Turn on/off message high periods of high call volume

This topic covers how to update a Switch or Default control.

Updating a Switch or Default Control

To update a Switch or Default control:

  1. Edit the Control Name and Control Description fields as needed.

NOTE:

The Control Code field can no longer be edited after initially adding the control.

  1. Leave the Control Value option set to the default ON position to keep the function of the switch control on, or change it to OFF to disable it.
  1. Refer to the Using the Daily Default Reset Value section below if the control value needs to reset to a different value on a daily basis.
  2. Place a check in the Default check box to set the currently selected Control Value option as a default.
  3. If necessary, enter a note or reason for the change to the control in the Reason of Update field.
  4. Click the Save button to save any changes made to the control or click the Cancel button to cancel the operation.

NOTE:

If canceling the operation, click the Continue button to confirm.

A success confirmation displays in the upper right corner upon successfully updating a control. The message disappears after a few seconds.

Using the Daily Default Reset Value

Based on the contact center's needs, a control value may need to reset to a different value at a specific time each day. This can be accomplished by using the Daily Default Reset Value. By default, this feature is disabled, and this section shows how to enable and configure.

  1. Enable the Daily Default Reset Value by toggling the slider to the ON position
  2. Enable or disable the Control Value option by changing to the ON or OFF position. This is the value the control resets to each day.
  3. Enter a time for the control to reset in the Reset Time field.

NOTE:

Alternatively, click on the Reset Time field to reveal a dialog that allows for the selection of the time. Click on the arrows to adjust the time, and click on AM or PM to swap between AM or PM.

  1. Select a time zone by clicking the drop-down menu located under Time Zone.

NOTE:

Make sure the time zone matches with your computer. This ensures the timestamps displayed in the audit log match up to the time on your computer.

  1. If necessary, enter a note or reason for the change to the control in the Reason of Update field.
  2. Click the Save button to save any changes made to the control or click the Cancel button to cancel the operation.
