Delete a Billing Unit

If a billing unit needs to be deleted for any reason (for example, the site is combining two billing units), you can easily delete the unneeded billing unit. Remember that when you delete a billing unit, you are not deleting the users who are assigned to that billing unit.

To delete an existing billing unit, you must be viewing the Locations page. If you are not viewing the Locations page, Working with Locations for information about displaying the Locations page.

To delete an existing billing unit, you will be working in the Billing Units pane (see the following screen capture).

To delete an existing billing unit, perform the following steps:

1. In the Locations page, locate the billing unit that you want to delete. If you click anywhere in the row that contains the billing unit, the entire row changes to a light green color. To delete the selected billing unit, click on the Delete Billing Unit icon (  ) on the right side of the row that displays the billing unit.

2. The Delete Billing Unit confirmation pop-up window opens.

   

   Before deleting the billing unit, you have the opportunity to move all users currently assigned to the billing unit into a different billing unit using the Transfer Users to drop-down list. By default, if you do nothing, the users will be transferred into the billing unit that is in the top of the list. To transfer the users to a different billing unit, click anywhere in the Transfer Users to box to open the menu and click on the billing unit to which you want to transfer the users.

   After selecting a billing unit to which to transfer the users, click on the Delete button to delete the billing unit. The site is deleted immediately and the name of the billing unit is removed from the Billing Units pane. A confirmation message is displayed in the upper right corner of the page.    Note: If, before clicking on the Delete button, you change your mind, you can click on the Cancel button to close the Delete Billing Unit confirmation pop-up window without deleting the billing unit.
