729 - Symitar – Invalid attempts before freezing

Description Indicates the number of times a caller can enter a valid account number with other invalid authentication information before the system freezes the account. Once this threshold is reached or exceeded, the account will be frozen.

Purpose Prevents repeated unauthorized access attempts when a valid account number is known but other authentication factors are being guessed.

Behavior When the number of invalid authentication attempts reaches the configured threshold, the account is frozen.

Valid Values

  • 0 – Do not freeze
  • 1–999 – Number of invalid attempts allowed before freezing occurs

Default Value 0

Notes/Dependencies

  • Should be synchronized with the INV ATTEMPTS BEFORE FROZEN setting within the SymXchange parameters
  • Symitar natively freezes only accounts that use PIN authentication
  • This parameter enables SmartApps to also freeze accounts when non-PIN authentication methods are entered incorrectly
