Check Management Settings

Purpose

Check Management Settings control how stop payment requests are handled in the Teller, including what information is announced to callers, what actions are permitted, and how fees and limits are enforced.

This section defines the rules for individual and range-based stop payments, confirmation messaging, and how the system behaves when funds are insufficient to cover stop payment fees.

Configurations Supported

  • Announce the stop payment period and applicable fees
  • Allow stop payments on:
    • Single checks
    • Ranges of checks
    • Checks drawn on loan accounts
  • Provide confirmation numbers and mailed confirmation notices
  • Define stop payment and returned draft fee amounts
  • Control how insufficient funds situations are handled
  • Set minimum and maximum check number lengths
  • Limit how many checks can be included in inquiry or stop payment ranges
  • Define how long a stop payment remains active (in weeks or months)

Use Case

  • Fee and period disclosures so callers understand terms before confirming.
  • Confirmation numbers for audit and reference.
  • Range-based stop payments with reasonable limits.
Tip: When funds are insufficient, many institutions choose to block processing and offer transfer to an agent for manual handling.
